Halloween is about here!

It’s the scariest time of the year!

Halloween gives you the opportunity to get your creative juices flowing.

What or who will you dress up like this Halloween?

You may be leaning toward the scarier side of this fun holiday by wearing a ghost and goblin costume or changing into some breath-taking monster outfit!

Or here’s another thought. What about dressing up like Freddie Krueger? Talk about giving someone a nightmare!

Or the perfect costume for you this year might just be Beetlejuice. Now that would be something!

A softer approach to Halloween could be dropping by at a party dressed like Cinderella, or Sesame Street’s Oscar the Grouch.

My whole point is that picking out just the right costume can be a difficult task due to the enormous choices available today!

And I’m sure that the costume you choose will be the right one for you.

But remember that the main objective about Halloween is to have fun.

So, don’t get stressed out in deciding what to wear.

But, since Cavapoo Journal is a DOG BLOG, and more specifically, a blog about Cavapoos, I guess I need to write primarily on Halloween and dogs.

Think with me for a few moments why dog owners like you and me would want to put a Halloween costume on our dogs.

Because Everything Has Gone to the Dogs!

I say that in the most positive way.

Your dog is a special member of your family.

You select the best food for him. You buy toys for him to play with. You watch your pup like you would your child when you carry him outside (if he’s a house dog). You buy pet insurance just in case your four-legged friend has an accident. You take photos of him.

Now here’s a question for you: How much money is spent annually on dogs in our nation?

According to Forbes Advisor, essential dog expenses cost an average of $1533 annually. Now keep in mind, this figure only involves ESSENTIAL canine expenses!

In addition to the necessary items we buy for our dogs, we buy them adorable, crazy, and funny costumes!

You and I do this because WE LOVE THEM!

Because Halloween Gives You the Opportunity to Show Off Your Dog!

Whether it’s a dog costume contest or just a chance to count the oohs and ahs handed out for the cuteness of our canines, Halloween is the ultimate time to dress up your fur baby!

There’s no other holiday that measures up to Halloween when it comes to imagination and creativity.

Our hearts are full when our dog trots up to the door in his new outfit to welcome Halloween trick-or-treaters.

Now it’s time to choose the costume for your pup!

And while you’re searching for your dog’s apparel, why not choose to go as Scooby-Doo yourself?

Now wouldn’t that be great?

Another option is to go to Amazon to find that perfect costume for your dog! Let me help you out. Here are two links that’ll carry you straight to Amazon! The first one is the amazingly cute Hotdog! And the second one is the hilarious Cowboy Rider Dog Costume!

You Buy a Dog Halloween Costume For Your Entertainment!

While your dog may enjoy (to some degree) wearing a costume, you get more enjoyment watching him!

Am I right?

Your smile turns to laughter as you watch your puppy waddle through the house dressed up like a hotdog, pirate, or a dinosaur.

And as you watch him put on a show, you’re enjoying a break from the pressures of daily life.

A Few Rules to Follow!

  • Rule #1. Don’t force your dog to wear a costume. If your dog runs from you or growls when you try to put a costume on him, it would be wise to abandon your project
  • Rule #2. Make sure the costume fits.  For example, a costume that’s too snug could restrict his breathing and make him miserable.
  • Rule #3. You may want to reconsider a costume with a hood or one that fits over the head of your pup. Dogs hate to feel restrained!

Conclusion

Happy Halloween!
